This allele confers a higher frequency of hairs with single constrictions on the caudal mid-dorsum of mice compared to CBA/StMan (0.13 per cent), and is found in C57BL/10J (9.41 per cent). Heterozygotes have an intermediate frequency of single constriction hairs (J:5280).
