Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:84819

Linkage analysis was performed on 633 (MRL/MpJ x SJL/J)F2 female animals using 137 polymorphic markers to identify QTLs associated with serum IGFBP-5 levels. Parental strain MRL/MpJ exhibits 79% higher serum IGFBP-5 and increased IGF-1 levels compared toparental strain SJL/J. F1 hybrids exhibit higher serum IGFBP-5 levels compared to SJL/J, similar to the MRL/MpJ phenotype. Six loci were identified which together explain 24.3% of the variance.

Significant linkage to serum IGFBP-5 levels mapped to 82 cMmouse Chromosome 1 near D1Mit33 (LOD=3.9). This locus explains 2.9% of the variance and also shows linkage to bone mineral density (LOD=2.8). This locus is named Si5lq1 (serum IGFBP-5 level QTL 1).

Si5lq2 and Si5lq3 mapped to 7.7 cM (D9Mit90, LOD=4.9) and 29 cM (D9Mit71, LOD=4.0) on mouse Chromosome 9, respectively. Si5lq2 explains 4.2% of the variance and Si5lq3 explains 2.9% of the variance.

Si5lq4 mapped to 69.9 cM on mouse Chromosome 10 near D10Mit14 (LOD=3.6). Si5lq4 explains 3.3% of the variance.

Si5lq5 and Si5lq6 mapped to 19.7 cM (D11Mit236, LOD=4.9) and 47.6 cM (D11Mit36, LOD=6.9) on mouse Chromosome 11, respectively. Si5lq5 explains 4.3% of the variance and Si5lq6 explains 6.7% of the variance. Si5lq6 also shows linkage to bone mineral density (LOD=6.8).
