Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Pomctm1Sora
Name: pro-opiomelanocortin-alpha; targeted mutation 1, S O'Rahilly
MGI ID: MGI:3040514
Synonyms: Pomc-
Gene: Pomc  Location: Chr12:3954951-3960618 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr12, 1.99 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:89244
Parent Cell Line:  Not Specified (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S6/SvEvTac
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout, Reporter)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsThe majority of exon 3 was replaced with a tau-lacZ reporter and a floxed PGK-neo cassette. A point mutation was introduced into the initiator ATG to create a stop codon. X-gal staining showed beta-galactosidase activity was present in mutant brains. Endogenous mRNA was absent as shown by Northern blot, and a two-site immunoassay confirmed that no peptides were detected in mutant plasma. (J:89244)
