Notes

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:50271

841 male mice 56-125 days of ages from 20 BXD/Ty RI strains were used to map QTLs associated with ethanol-induced conditioned taste aversion behavior. Inbred strain DBA/2J exhibits increased sensitivity to ethanol compared to C57BL/6J and decreases consumption of an ethanol-paired distinctive taste (ethanol-induced taste aversion) in a dose dependent manner. Saccharin solution drinking water was used as the paired taste in this study. Etohcta10 (P<0.01 at D17Ncvs39; 12 cM) mapped to a region spanning 12.0 cM - 22.8 cM on Chromosome 17. Etohcta10 is associated with ethanol-induced taste aversion at low-dose ethanol injection following the paired taste.
