Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Cav1tm1Kur
Name: caveolin 1, caveolae protein; targeted mutation 1, Teymuras V Kurzchalia
MGI ID: MGI:2154537
Synonyms: Cav-, cav-1-, Cav-1 KO
Gene: Cav1  Location: Chr6:17306335-17341452 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr6, 7.73 cM, cytoband A2
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:71760
Parent Cell Line:  Not Specified (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129X1/SvJ
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsA neomycin resistance cassette replaced a genomic fragment containing exon 3, which encodes the transmembrane domain, the palmitoylation sites and the scaffolding domains. RT-PCR analysis revealed that no transcript was present in lung total RNA derived from homozygous mice, and western blot analysis demonstrated that no protein was detectable in lung and heart extracts from homozygous mice.
