Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Vimtm1Cba
Name: vimentin; targeted mutation 1, Charles Babinet
MGI ID: MGI:1931877
Synonyms: Vim-, Vim1
Gene: Vim  Location: Chr2:13573927-13582826 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr2, 10.04 cM, cytoband A2
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:21588
Parent Cell Line:  D3 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S2/SvPas
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout, Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsExon 1 of the Vim gene was disrupted by insertion of a LacZ neomycin resistance cassette. Northern analysis of organs from homozygous mutant animals did not detect Vim transcript. Western analysis, immunofluorescence microsopy, and immunohistochemical studies did not detect VIM protein in tissues of homozygous mutant mice. The endogenous Vim promoter controls expression of beta-galactosidase in the targeted allele. (J:21588)
