description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Krt2-6a)3Der expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsOverexpression of a mutated form of the mouse Mk6a (Krt2-6a) gene in the interfollicular epidemis driven by the mouse MK6a (Krt2-6a) promoter. The C- terminal 2B, H2,V2 and E2 region of the gene is deleted and replaced by the substance P epitope tag. (J:58389)

Notes
One line established.

Phenotypes: Neonates exhibited severe blistering of the epidermis in heterozygotes. Heterozygous animals surviving to adult developed early onset alopecia at 3 weeks. In addition, keratotic lesions appeared at 2-4 weeks. Hyperplasia and hyperkeratosis of the epidermis. Homozygous animals did not survive longer than one week.
