Mice homozygous or hemizygous for a knock-out allele exhibit neonatal lethality and ventral spinal cord patterning defects. About 50% of heterozygous females display postnatal growth retardation and fail to survive to adulthood, with some embryos exhibiting similar spinal cord patterning defects.
