Mutation details: Exon 5 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette, introducing a frameshift mutation. The deleted region encoded a portion of the second transmembrane domain. Northern analysis revealed a lack of transcript in homozygous mutant mice. Absence of a truncated protein product was confirmed by Western blot analysis using an antibody raised against the N-terminal.
