description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsA neomycin resistance cassette was inserted downstream of both translation initiation codons, resulting in stop codons in all three reading frames. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from liver of homozygous mice demonstrated that a large fusion transcript was made that incorporated both the gene and the neomycin cassette elements. However, western blot experiments on liver lysates from homozygous mice confirmed that no detectable protein was expressed from this allele. (J:35795)
