Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show complete prenatal lethality. Heterozygotes are viable and reach adulthood but exhibit smaller body size, increased macrophage cytokine production, increased interferon-beta secretion, and decreased susceptibility to vesicular stomatitis virus infection.
