Mice heterozygous for a knock-out allele and a conditional allele activated in the immune system exhibit increased inflammation in multiple systems, cachexia and premature death. Conditional homozygous KO in the embryonic nephrogenic zone causes kidney developmental anomalies and perinatal mortality.
