Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit defects in leukocyte physiology that result in altered response to myocardial infarction and increased susceptibility to bacterial infection and colitis. Mice may also exhibit retinal degeneration and alcohol aversion depending on the knock-out allele.
