Nullizygous mice show smaller size, narrow rib cages, short and thin bony elements, and reduced chondrocyte proliferation and growth plates. Homozygotes for a gene trap allele show postnatal death, small size, distorted tails and cleft palate. Homozygotes for another gene trap allele die by E10.5.
