This cis-acting locus controls expression of IGL1. SJL mice have about 2% as much IGL1 in serum and 2% as many IGL1-bearing spleen cells as strain BALB/c. Heterozygotes are intermediate. The low allele occurs in SJL, BSVS, CFW and CD-1; the normal allelein BALB/c, C57BL/6, AKR/N, and most inbreds.
