Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout, Reporter) Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion   Mutation details: A 15.8 kb fragment including the start codon and first 2 exons was replaced with a tau/YFP fusion construct and a floxed neo cassette via homologous recombination. In situ and immunofluorescence analysis confirmed the absence of detectable RNA and protein expression in homozygous mice. Robust reporter expression is seen in sites of endogenous gene expression (microtubules, axon bundles and the nerve and glomerular layers of the olfactory bulb). (J:173465)
