The insertion was designed to delete the 3' promoter (in intron 1) and leave lacZ under the control of the 5' promoter located upstream of exon 1. Beta-galactosidase expression was verfied by staining. The absence of endogenous transcript and protein was confirmed by Northern and Western blot analyses. (J:79500)
