Mutation details: A genomic fragment containing the coding region of exon 1 and part of intron 1 was replaced by a neomycin resistance cassette. Nothern blot and RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that an aberrant transcript is produced from this allele in total brain RNA from homozygous mice, but western blot analysis confirmed the absence of the protein in extracts derived from brains of homozygous mice.
